Gettysburg Preservation Walk

Walking in the Footsteps of the 1913 Reunion Veterans

Sunday, April 21, 2013

Time: 9:45am, 10:30am and 11:15am

Educational Event

One hundred fifty years ago, the small town of Gettysburg was thrown into the middle of the American Civil War. From the moment the Battle of Gettysburg was fought, veterans returned to this hallowed ground to honor the fallen and reconcile with their brothers in arms. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, the Gettysburg Preservation Walk, an approximate 45-minute battlefield walk with Licensed Battlefield Guides Joe Mieczkowski, John Winkelman, and Richard Rigney, will focus on the reunions and commemorations that have taken place over the years, walking in the same footsteps as the soldiers.

This event is free and open to the public; however, donations to participate in this walk are appreciated and will be used to further our mission of preservation. You must register for the Gettysburg Preservation Walk at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center, 1195 Baltimore Pike, between 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on April 21, 2013 to participate in one of the following timed tours: 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 11:15 a.m. Further information and directions will be given at time of registration. T-shirts will be available that day at $13.00 or you may pre-order a shirt. The cost for pre-ordering a T-shirt is $13.00 plus $4.95 s&h; the deadline for pre-ordering a shirt is March 30, 2013. All proceeds will benefit battlefield preservation.

For more information, to make a donation, or to pre-order your T-shirt, please contact Ann Swade, [email protected], 717-339-2148.
