Congressional Medal of Honor Society Convention

150th Event

The Congressional Medal of Honor Society will convene for their annual convention September 18-22, 2013. It is significant that Gettysburg was chosen as the site for the convention as the Society will commemorate the 150^th Anniversary of the awarding of the first Medal of Honor in March of 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg (from where 63 Medals were bestowed), Lincoln’s historic Gettysburg Address and the 55th anniversary of President Eisenhower’s chartering of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.

To celebrate this unique opportunity to host these distinguished Americans, there will be select events over the course of the convention that will be open to the public. Thursday, Sept. 19
Autograph signing session with Medal of Honor Recipients

Come meet our American heroes in person! Tickets will be required to attend. Please visit www.cmoh2013.org to learn more.

Friday, Sept. 20
Town Hall Meeting featuring interviews with Medal of Honor Recipients

Recipients will be interviewed live at the Gettysburg College campus. Come hear their remarkable stories and have an opportunity to participate in the discussion.

Friday, Sept. 20
Evening Concert on the Gettysburg Battlefield

Join us for a free historic and commemorative concert at the Pennsylvania Monument on the Gettysburg battlefield. Tickets will be required to attend and transportation will be provided to and from the concert from predetermined parking lots. Saturday, Sept. 21
Patriot Award Dinner

The final event of the convention recognizes worthy individuals who embody the mission of the Society. Awards that will be presented include the Patriot Award, the “Tex” McCrary Award for Journalism, the Bob Hope Award for Entertainment and the Distinguished Citizen Award.
