The American Civil War Museum will once again offer free living history presentations to visitors most weekends March through November. Visitors are encouraged to be a part of history by strolling through the camp, viewing drills and demonstrations, and by engaging in conversation with living historians.

The drills and presentations will vary from weekend to weekend. Each living history group creates it own schedule based on the Civil War unit they portray. Most groups focus on the soldiers life and hardships, while others spend time on the civilians role during the war. The program was designed to be diverse, and allow visitors time to explore and learn what life was truly like more than 145 years ago.

The living history encampments will be open to the public during the museum operating hours, a minimum of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

For more information about the living history program, contact the American Civil War Museum at (717) 334-6245 or visit www.gettysburgmuseum.com. A detailed listing of participating units and scheduled appearances can be found on the Living History link.

Re-enactment groups interested in becoming a participant may pick up an application in the lobby of the museum. A few dates still remain for the 2009 season.
