On Sunday, May 31, the public is invited free of charge to take part in a new interactive adventure through the streets of Gettysburg. This promotional event is open to the first 50 people who sign up for the event.
Lincolns Lost Treasure is a live adventure that will take participants on a two and a half hour mystery through the streets, shops and restaurants of historic Downtown Gettysburg. Part treasure hunt, part theater, participants are given a mission to bring together the documents which contain the secret to a treasure hidden in Gettysburg during the Civil War.
Treasure hunters are given clues to get from location to location where they will gather pieces of the puzzle to find the treasure. Along the way, participants will have several brief encounters with actors who add fun and excitement to the adventure and are part of the plot.
While the entire story line remains a secret, the main plot is that treasury gold was hidden in Gettysburg for safe keeping after the battle and the clues to its hidden location are hidden in the five copies of the Gettysburg Address, which the participants must bring together all five original copies without being uncovered.
The main purpose of the event is to have tourists discover the sights, attractions and unique shops in Downtown Gettysburg, and at the same time experiencing a fun and exhilarating quest.
Lincolns Lost Treasure was created by Philip Cohen and Doug Hieatzman of York, Pa.
The family-friendly treasure hunt will be for groups of 6-8 people. Tickets will cost $39.95.
Lincolns Lost Treasure will begin on June 6, but operators are hosting a free sneak peek for 50 guests on May 31. For tickets, call (800) 838-3006 or visit www.lincolnslosttreasure.com.
