Gettysburg Festival receives five awards in International Festival Competition

       The Gettysburg Festival was recognized by the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) with five Pinnacle Awards, including three Gold Pinnacles, during the prestigious Pinnacle Awards Ceremony honoring festivals around the globe at the IFEA’s 53rd Annual Convention & Expo, held September 21-25 in Indianapolis, Ind.
 
Awards were presented to The Gettysburg Festival in the following categories:
·        Gold Award – Best Event/Organization E-Newsletter
·        Gold Award – Best Ad Series
·        Gold Award – Best Radio Promotion
·        Silver Award – Best Event Invitation
·        Bronze Award – Best Miscellaneous Printed Materials, “Festival Pocket Guide”
 
“To be recognized among our peers, among festivals world-wide, is truly an honor,” said Gettysburg Festival PR/Marketing Director Karen Hendricks, who represented the Festival at the IFEA’s annual convention. “Being honored as a gold standard-setting festival is an accomplishment we share with everyone connected to the festival, from fellow staff members to our volunteers, board of directors, artistic directors and everyone in the community who supports this dynamic cultural festival. It’s important to strive for excellence because it ultimately benefits Festival attendees.”
 
The Gettysburg Festival was one of only three Pennsylvania festivals to be recognized with IFEA awards. Other Pennsylvania-based winners included the Philadelphia Flower Show and the Temple University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

The Gettysburg Festival is an annual 10-day cultural arts festival held in mid-to-late June. The 2009 Festival offered more than 100 events, 75 percent of which were free and open to the public, drawing more than 20,000 attendees from at least 22 states.
