Inns of the Gettysburg Area hosts Holiday House Tour, Christmas Dance

The Inns of the Gettysburg Area, an association of 14 inns, announces the 13th annual Holiday House Tour to be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, from noon until 5 p.m.

The inn tour offers an opportunity to view restored historic buildings now operating as bed and breakfasts and historic sites, most with a history involving the Battle of Gettysburg. Each innkeeper will be glad to share the history of the building with visitors.

Properties include Battlefield Bed & Breakfast, Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, The Daniel Lady Farm, The Dobbin House’s Gettystown Inn and Little Round Top Farm, Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Building, Inn at Herr Ridge, James Gettys Hotel, Raphael Inn, and the Tate Farm.

In addition to history, charming interiors and festive holiday decorations await visitors. Refreshments will be offered at the GAR Building on Middle Street.

Following the tour, Candlelight at Christ Church will perform Civil War music and dramatic readings at 5 p.m. The day will wind up with a 1940s USO-Style Big Band Dance from 8-11 p.m. Dancers are encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for the Toys for Tots program. This holiday dance will be held at the Gettysburg American Legion.

Tour ticket prices are $10 per person in advance or $12 on the day of the tour. Tickets for the dance are an additional $12. Advance tickets may be purchased at these Gettysburg locations: American History Store 461 Baltimore St., Herr Tavern 900 Chambersburg Road, and Lord Nelson’s Gallery 27 Chambersburg St.. Visitors can bring their tour tickets to the Spirited Ladies Shoppe gallery on 45 Chambersburg St. for a chance to enter a drawing for a $50 gift certificate.

A portion of the proceeds from the Holiday House Tour will benefit the Grand Army of the Republic Historic Building, the Daniel Lady Farm, and Candlelight at Christ Lutheran Church.
