Mark your calendar for June 18-27, 2010 and enjoy the Gettysburg Festival, an extraordinary 10-day festival celebrating arts, culture and cuisine.
Taking place throughout historic downtown Gettysburg, the Gettysburg Festival will offer more than 100 events – the majority of which are free – featuring world-class artists, chefs, and musicians.
Festival highlights include:
• A multi-faceted musical lineup includes a live taping of the NPR classical music show “From the Top” with host Christopher O’Riley. Known as the pre-eminent showcase for young musicians in America, “From the Top” officially kicks off Gettysburg Festival’s 2010 highlight performances at the Majestic Theater on June 18.
• World-renowned guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli, described as “hip with a wink” (Town & Country), headlines the Festival’s jazz lineup. Considered one of the prime interpreters of the Great American Songbook, Pizzarelli croons classic hits by Nat “King” Cole, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra and more at the Majestic Theater on June 25.
• Caribbean and Latin-flavored jazz septet Afro Bop Alliance, winners of a Latin Grammy Award, performs a free concert under the stars at the Festival Main Stage at Gettysburg College on June 24.
• The critically-acclaimed Boston Brass headlines the brass lineup with a free June 19 performance at the Festival Main Stage, amidst the day-long All-American Brass Picnic. High-school aged musicians are also invited to attend the Boston Brass Academy, a Festival camp experience.
• A spotlight shines on classic, comic Gilbert & Sullivan operas as the Gettysburg Festival welcomes an expansion of the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival from Buxton, United Kingdom, now in its 17th year. More than a dozen performances showcase the talents of Gilbert & Sullivan theater groups from across the U.S. and U.K.
• Select art galleries, within the charming Civil War era town’s historic district, are featured in the Festival’s new visual arts component, “History Meets the Arts,” which allows the public the opportunity to meet dozens of world-class artists and watch art being created before their eyes.
• The internationally-acclaimed Cashore Marionettes, known for their moving yet humorous performances, headline children’s events but are sure to captivate audiences of all ages.

On the heels of a wildly successful performance of “A Lincoln Portrait” by James Earl Jones, who called the festival “one of the finest cultural events in which I’ve had the pleasure to participate,” the Festival will announce its top headliner for 2010, a popular artist, in the coming weeks.
Additionally, Former White House Chef Walter Scheib will unveil a world-class lineup of culinary events, pairing unique locations and outstanding chefs with exceptional Pennsylvania produce and products.
