The Quality Inn at General Lee’s Headquarters in Historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, was recently honored with Choice Hotel’s Platinum Award for 2010.
Each year, Choice Hotels International recognizes outstanding hotels within their chain and rewards those hotels for excellence based on guest comments, guest ratings and property inspections.
This year marks the fourth consecutive that Quality Inn at General Lee’s Headquarters has been awarded this prestigious honor, and the Gettysburg hotel is the only Choice hotel in Southcentral Pennsylvania to win a Platinum Award in 2010. In the United States, only 26 of the 900 Quality Inn hotels receive Choice’s Platinum Award.
“The staff is proud to accept this illustrious honor and promises to continue serving its guests by going that extra mile and making their visit to Gettysburg a quality experience,” said Peter Monahan, Owner of the Quality Inn at General Lee’s Headquarters.
Located on historic Seminary Ridge near the Gettysburg National Military Park, Quality Inn at General Lee’s Headquarters offers tastefully appointed rooms and suites.
The Thompson House, which was used by Gen. Robert E. Lee as his personal headquarters during the battle, is part of the hotel’s property and now houses a suite, gift shop and a museum which contains many rare and unique artifacts from the Battle of Gettysburg. Hotel guests are offered free admission to the museum.
Five of the hotel’s seven suites are in buildings that were situated on the battlefield during the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863. The Quality Inn at General Lee’s Headquarters is the only hotel or motel in Gettysburg that provides accommodations in Civil War-era buildings.
The Quality Inn offers high-speed Internet, continental breakfast, fitness center and an outdoor pool. The hotel is also adjacent to Appalachian Brewing Co. brewery and restaurant.
