Main Street Gettysburg announced today a partnership with the Gettysburg Convention & Visitors Bureau to provide visitor information services at the David Wills House. During a morning press conference the two boards signed the lease agreement which will start in July 2008.

“We are thrilled to bring the Gettysburg Convention & Visitors Bureau Visitor Information Center into the David Wills House,” said Bill Kough, Chair of the Main Street Gettysburg Board. “This partnership will be good for the visitor, local businesses and the community.”

“This partnership with Main Street will enhance the visitor’s experience and encourage them to spend more time in town,” said Norris Flowers, President of the Gettysburg CVB Visitor Information Center.

The Gettysburg CVB Visitor Information Center located at 102 Carlisle Street will remain open until the David Wills House opens in summer 2008. Currently 80,000 visitors utilize the services at the Carlisle Street operation. The Gettysburg CVB Administrative Offices will remain at 571 W Middle Street.

Main Street Gettysburg is a non-profit organization committed to historic preservation and economic revitalization for the benefit of citizens, businesses, and visitors of Gettysburg. The site is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Currently Main Street Gettysburg is also working on expansion of the Historic Pathways, a new Wayfinding system of signs directing foot and vehicle traffic to points of interest, historic Third Ward initiatives, the Journey Through Hallowed Ground, heritage marketing strategies, downtown business recruitment, and sources of funding to ensure the long-term financial stability of Main Street Gettysburg.
