Enjoy the fabulous singing, smooth-stepping Temptations as they bring their timeless musical hits to the stage of the Majestic Theater in Gettysburg on Thursday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m., and accompanied by members of “The Buzz Jones Big Band.”
Travel back in time to the good ole’ days of the 1970s with some of their famous hits including “My Girl,” “Since I Lost My Baby,” “Get Ready,” “Treat Her Like a Lady” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.” And don’t forget The Temptation Walk that became a staple of American style, flair, flash and class.
For more than 40 years, The Temptations have prospered, propelling popular music with a series of smash hits and sold-out performances throughout the world. The history of the Temptations is the history of contemporary American pop. An essential component of the original Motown machine, that amazing engine invented by Berry Gordy, the Temps began their musical life in Detroit in the early sixties. It wasn’t until 1964, however, that the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced “The Way You Do the Things You Do” turned the guys into stars.
No matter the change in personnel, the Temptations remained true to the Temptations tradition. They have survived the whims of fashion, whether disco or techno, and stuck to their guns. “The more we change,” says veteran Ron Tyson, “the more we stay true to ourselves. We’re about singing straight-up soul. It’s a style that will live on forever.”
The Temptation tickets are priced from $62 to $55(taxes and fees included) for reserved seating. To purchase tickets, visit www.gettysburgmajestic.org, call 717-337-8200, or stop by the Box Office, 25 Carlisle St., Gettysburg. The Box Office is open Monday through Saturday from noon until 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 3 to 7:30 p.m.
The Majestic Theater at the Jennifer and David LeVan Performing Arts Center is owned and operated by Gettysburg College as a cultural resource for its students and the community.
