The Inns of the Gettysburg Area and Adams County Winery announce the 14th Annual Holiday House Tour and Tasting to be held on Saturday, Dec. 11, from noon until 5 p.m.

Tour participants will be able to visit area inns decorated for the holidays, sample favorite recipes from the Inns of the Gettysburg Area Cookbook, taste locally produced wines from Adams County Winery, and know that their ticket money is all going to support the South Central Community Action Program, including the Homeless Shelter and the Emergency Food Pantry.

The Inns of the Gettysburg Area is an association of premier bed and breakfasts and inns within 10 miles of downtown Gettysburg. These inns are often in significant historic buildings and homes, renovated and decorated to please the most fastidious guest.

Participating inns include The Barker House, Chestnut Hall, The Gaslight Inn, The Brafferton Inn, The James Gettys Hotel, The Dobbin House, Battlefield Bed & Breakfast, The Lightner Farmhouse, The Baladerry Inn, and The Inn at Herr Ridge. On the day of the tour, tickets may be purchased at any one of the participating inns.

Samples of recipes from the inn association cookbook will include Artichoke Dip, Soy Glazed Flank Steak, Baked Brie with Fresh Pears, Cranberries and Pecans, Chicken Salad In Toasted Mini Quiche, Peppermint Patty Brownies, Hummingbird Cake, Chocolate Dipped Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies, Lobster Deviled Eggs, Pot au Crème, Wassail,  Sour Cream Orange Muffins, Pumpkin Cookies and/or Sweet Potato Biscuits, and Shrimp Dip.

During the tour, several of the participating bed and breakfasts will be offering samples of Adams County Winery wines, specially selected to pair with the foods being served.

Adams County Winery has been making wine for more than 30 years. During that time, the business has grown into a nationally recognized producer of award-winning wines. Adams County Winery offers a fun, inviting, and casual atmosphere where anyone – locals and tourists alike – can relax, taste some wine, and feel at home.

This year, the proceeds from the house tour will be donated to SCCAP, the South Central Community Action Program. The agency provides services to over 26,000 individuals per year through services offered by 26 different programs/services.

Adams County Winery has two locations where guests can purchase bottles of their favorite wines after sampling the wine at the inns. Discounted tour tickets may be purchased in advance at either of these locations.

Tour ticket prices are $10 per person in advance or $12 on the day of the tour. Advance tickets may be purchased at these Gettysburg locations:  James Gettys Hotel, 27 Chambersburg Street, Gettysburg or at either of Adams County Winery's locations including their shop 25C at 25 Chambersburg St., Gettysburg.
