The Civil War Trust and Gettysburg National Military Park are partnering to host a one-day volunteer event called Civil War “Park Day” on April 2. Park Day is a nationwide event sponsored by the Civil War Trust and the History Channel, in conjunction with Take Pride in America. It is a day for volunteers to come to pitch in and help preserve and maintain one of the treasures of our national heritage.
At Gettysburg, volunteers will be cutting brush and managing vegetation on Little Round Top on the Gettysburg battlefield to reveal historic terrain and original breastworks. Registration is required and tools will be provided.
“All of our historic sites need the public’s help,” said Bob Kirby, Superintendent of Gettysburg National Military Park. “We hope to host a hearty corps of volunteers who will give back and help keep America’s Civil War heritage alive by caring for the historic terrain of Little Round Top.”
A limited number of volunteers may register to participate in this event. To register contact Jo Sanders by calling (717) 334-1124, ext. 3351, or by email at [email protected].
