Magazine ranks Gettysburg third best family daytrip

Gettysburg ranked third from a list of more than 65 nominees. Among those nominees was Boyds Bear Country, located just west of Gettysburg.
�Gettysburg has always been a popular destination not only for those visiting from across the country, but from right here in Central Pennsylvania,� said Norris Flowers, President of the Gettysburg Convention & Visitors Bureau. �Gettysburg is a great way to spend the day, no matter what time of year.�
All of the Family Favorite Award winners, runners-up and nominees were included in a special supplement to the August issue of Central Penn Parent. They will also be featured on the magazine�s website year-round in its Family Favorites section.
�These awards are more than a popularity contest,� said Central Penn Publisher David A. Schankweiler. �They are the collective recommendations from parents in the know about the best of the best in Central Pennsylvania.�
The National Apple Harvest Festival received second-place honors in the Best Local Festival category. The annual event was chosen among nearly 100 nominations. It tied with Jubilee Day in Mechanicsburg.
