The Inns of the Gettysburg Area, an association of 16 premier lodging properties, will open their doors for the 12th Annual Holiday House Tour on Saturday, Dec. 13, from noon until 5 p.m.

This year, six bed and breakfasts and four community properties will be featured on the tour.  The bed and breakfasts on the tour include the Baladerry Inn, Brafferton Inn, Brickhouse Inn, the Farnsworth Inn, Gaslight Inn and the Lightner Farmhouse, offering both in town and out of town locations and a large variety of architectural periods and styles plus a unique history for each property. All will be decorated for the holidays.

The community properties on the tour are the GAR building, the Lincoln Train Station on Carlisle Street, Christ Lutheran Church on Chambersburg Street and the Daniel Lady Farm on Hanover Street. The GAR building will be the refreshment stop for the tour and also will offer tours of the Gettysburg mural painted by Virginia McLaughlin. Christ Lutheran Church will be open for tours from noon until 5 p.m. and will offer the Civil War program titled Candlelight at Christ Church at 5 p.m. as a culmination of the tour. The Daniel Lady Farm invites participants to view the building that served as a Confederate hospital following the Battle of Gettysburg, and the Lincoln Train Station will provide costumed Living Historians to describe the arrival of President Lincoln in 1863.

Spirited Ladies, a group of a dozen or more local artists who operate a shop on Chambersburg Street in Gettysburg, will be demonstrating and selling their art in several of the B&Bs.

Another shopping opportunity will be available in the B&Bs. The Inns of the Gettysburg Area have produced an association cookbook and it will be available on the day of the tour.  Twelve inns have volunteered a total of 180 recipes and the cookbook will sell for $10.

Ticket price for the tour is $10 in advance, $12 on the day of the tour and tickets can be ordered by mailing a check and a SASE to Lightner Farmhouse, 2360 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
