The Fairfield Inn 1757

Located on the Confederate Retreat from Gettysburg, July 4, 1863, the Inn was built over 250 years ago and is one of only five in America that has been in continuous operation since the 1700's. Offering fine food, spirits and bed & breakfast, guests can take the FREE Underground Railroad & History Tour. The Inn has been visited by President & Mrs. Eisenhower, Generals Lee and J.E.B. Stuart, Statesman Patrick Henry, famous for the quote 'Give me Liberty or give me death', Thaddeus Stevens, Gov. Ed Rendell, as well as many other notable Americans. Formerly a Civil War hospital, Colonial Meeting House, Stagecoach Stop and part of the Underground Railroad. Luxuries and amenities found only in the finest country inns. Rooms and suites decorated with antiques and full private baths, cable TV, AC and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

While visiting, take the Inn's FREE History Tour which will transport you through time pointing out interesting sites such as where President & Mrs. Eisenhower enjoyed their dinners, you can see (or sleep) in the room General J.E.B. Stuart used while raiding the valley in 1862 or where General Robert E. Lee ate, view the room where Statesman Patrick Henry (1736-99), famous for the quote, "Give me liberty or give me death" conducted meetings, as well as many other historically interesting sites and stories including the hidden Underground Railroad room.
