Underground Railroad Tours of Adams County, African American Voices at Gettysburg Tours

Debra McCauslin of For the Cause Productions has created and provides "Freedom Lies Just North: The Underground Railroad Tours of Adams County" and "Echoes from the Past: African American Voices At Gettysburg Tours." Both driving tours last approximately 2 and a half hours.

The Underground Railroad of Adams County Tour takes place in the heart of the northern Adams County fruitbelt in the pristine Quaker Valley just ten minutes from Gettysburg. Visit the Yellow Hill Cemetery, the historic Menallen Friends Meetinghouse and the area where free Blacks and Quakers collaborated to help others find freedom years before the Civil War literally came to our doorsteps. Costs are $15 for adults and $5 for students. Details are available at www.freedomliesnorth.org.

The African American Voices at Gettysburg Tour takes place in Gettysburg and features stories of local and nationally-known people of color who lived in or visited Gettysburg before, during and after the Civil War. Hear echoes from the past in the voices of ALL those connected with the period in our history. Costs are $15 for adults and $5 for students. Details are available at www.gettysburghistories.com.

To book either tour or for more information, please contact Debra McCauslin at [email protected] or call 717-357-5812 (cell) or 717-528-8553 (office). Proceeds from For the Cause Productions are donated toward local preservation.
